Scheduling on the American Standard® Gold Thermostat
Using the AS Air Home Mobile App

Introduction to Schedules
What is Scheduling?
The American Standard Gold thermostat can follow a schedule, allowing the thermostat to adjust indoor temperature settings automatically based on your schedule. Schedules are commonly used to set a comfort level in the home based on changing needs during the day. For example, during a typical day, if you are out of your home, you can use the schedule to "set back" heating or cooling to save energy until you return. If you like it cooler or warmer at other times of the day, you can use a schedule to set temperatures automatically for those times.
If you don’t want to run schedules on your thermostat and prefer a fixed, predictable temperature setting all day long, you can turn off scheduling.
What is a Period?
A period is a named span of time with a start and end time, and temperature setpoints associated with that time. Each schedule has default periods defined, with default start and end times; however, these are customizable.
The default periods in a newly loaded schedule are:
- Wake: Morning, begins at 6 AM, ends at 8 AM
- Away: Mid-day, begins at 8 AM and ends at 4 PM
- Home: Evening, begins at 4 PM and ends at 10 PM
- Sleep: Nighttime until the next day's Wake period, 10 PM to 6 AM the next day
What is a Setpoint?
Setpoints are the indoor temperatures you want your system to heat or cool to; setpoints are defined in a schedule or set manually. Each mode, Heating, Cooling, or AUTO, will display the setpoint for that mode. In AUTO mode, both the heating and cooling setpoints are visible.
In the screen below, the system is in Cooling mode, and the temperature setpoint is set to 66°.
The default setpoints for each period are:
- Wake: Heat to 70°, Cool to75°
- Away: Heat to 67°, Cool to78°
- Home: Heat to 70°, Cool to75°
- Sleep: Heat to 70°, Cool to 75°
How to Turn Off Scheduling
Scheduling is on by default after the thermostat is installed, but you can turn scheduling on or off via the thermostat or AS Air Home mobile app. When you enroll the thermostat in AS Air Home, you can use the AS Air Home Mobile App to turn scheduling on and off, edit schedules, and save and load schedules.
-
To activate or deactivate the schedule function from the thermostat:
-
On the thermostat, press the hamburger menu icon to get to the main menu.
-
Press Schedule.
-
Turn scheduling on or off by tapping the toggle slider.
-
On the thermostat, press the hamburger menu icon to get to the main menu.
-
To activate or deactivate the schedule function from the AS Air Home mobile app, tap the Schedule icon, which looks like a calendar with a small clock.
Schedule Editor Screen Components
To best understand the scheduling process, you'll first need to understand the components on the schedule editor screen.
-
The two buttons at the top of the screen are the "Bento Box" menu (Four squares and an arrow) in the upper-left corner, and the "Ellipsis" menu (three dots) in the upper-right corner.
- The Bento Box button returns you to the app's main menu.
- The Ellipsis button launches the scheduling menu. This menu allows you to save and view schedules.
-
Below these icons and the word "Schedule," you'll see the days of the week represented by circular icons. Each circle represents the day of the week you wish to edit, and is labeled with its 1- or 2-character abbreviation.
-
Scheduling periods are listed below the days of the week. Each period's start time, name, and temperature setpoints are shown in the rectangles.
-
Near the bottom are the Copy and Add Period buttons.
- The Copy function can quickly copy a single day's schedule to one or more other days.
- The Add Period function enables you to add additional schedule periods to your schedule. A schedule can support up to six total periods.
Creating a Custom Schedule
If the default schedule isn't a good fit for your routine and comfort needs, you can edit and adjust it to create a schedule tailored to your life.
Getting Started
-
On the app, you can bring up the schedule editor by tapping Schedule at the bottom of the screen:
-
The Schedule Editor screen will appear.
-
In our example, we will set a simple weekday schedule, where Monday through Friday are set the same. To begin, tap the M icon to select Monday.
-
Next, press Wake to edit the period.
-
In the Edit Period screen, tap the start time.
-
Tap and drag the reels up or down to set the desired time.
-
In our example, we have set the Wake start time to 7 AM; tap OK to accept the change.
-
Next, we'll adjust a setpoint. Tap the temperature in the Heat To or Cool To section. In our example, we adjust the heat setpoint.
-
In our example, we want to warm the home to 72°. If you want to set a much lower or higher temperature than is shown on the screen, drag the number list up or down to locate the desired setpoint. Tap the desired temperature to apply and collapse the temperature list.
-
Your changes will reflect on the Edit Period screen. Tap Save to apply the changes.
-
The app will now return to the main Schedule screen, and the changes we just made to the Wake period will be visible, along with a confirmation banner.
-
You can repeat these steps for any or all of the periods, adjusting start times and setpoints to fit your comfort needs.
Copying a Schedule to Multiple Days
In our example above, we modified Monday's schedule. Continuing with the same example, we'll now copy that schedule to the rest of the weekdays.
-
While still in the schedule editor with Monday selected, tap the Copy button at the bottom of the screen.
-
The next screen displays all the days of the week with checkboxes. Select the days you want to copy the schedule to, then click Apply. In our example, we are selecting the rest of the weekdays, Tuesday through Friday.
-
After applying changes, a quick spot check of one of the other days will confirm that the process was successful. The example below shows that Tuesday now reflects the same changes we made to Monday's schedule.
- You can repeat this process for any or all days, as desired.
Adding or Deleting a Period
You can add more schedule periods or, if desired, you can remove extra periods you may not need. You can add up to two more periods to an existing default schedule, for up to six periods in a daily schedule. You can also delete a schedule period to reduce the number of total periods to as few as one. In this example, we will add a period called "Evening" and then delete it.
-
To Add a Period:
-
To add a new schedule period, tap Add Period.
-
When the Add Period screen appears, tap the text box that says Untitled; this is the default period name.
-
Assign a name to the new period you want to add. Here, we'll name it Evening. After editing the new period name, tap Done on the keyboard.
-
You can also adjust the schedule period's start time. In our case, we'll leave it set to 5 PM. To change the start time, tap Start and select the desired time.
- NOTE: When adjusting period start times, you must allow at least 30 minutes between scheduled periods. In our sample schedule, an existing period begins at 4 PM, so our newly added period cannot start any earlier than 4:30 PM. We have allowed an hour between the start times of the existing Home period and our newly added Evening period.
-
Next, touch Heat To or Cool To to adjust the setpoint(s) as desired. In our example, we are increasing the heating setpoint to make it warmer during the Evening period.
-
Select the desired temperature from the drop-down list. In our example, we're selecting 73°.
-
Once you are satisfied with your changes, tap Add to save the new period to the schedule.
-
The app will return to the main Schedule screen, and the new period is visible.
-
To add a new schedule period, tap Add Period.
-
To Delete a Period:
-
Tap the desired period to open the editing screen. In our example, we are deleting the Evening period we created earlier.
-
The Edit Period screen will appear. Touch the trash can icon to delete the selected period.
-
You'll then be asked to confirm that you want to remove the selected period. Press YES to confirm and delete the period.
-
The app will now return to the main Schedule screen, and the deleted period will no longer appear in the schedule. You will also see a confirmation banner at the bottom of the screen.
-
You can repeat these steps for any period; however, a schedule must have at least ONE period.
-
A single period runs the same setpoints throughout the whole day, until the first period of the following day begins. In the example below, our single period called "All Day" will run from 12 AM on Thursday until Friday's schedule becomes active.

- NOTE: You can create and save multiple schedules. Please ensure each schedule has a unique, easily identifiable name to avoid confusion.
-
Press Save to save the current active schedule.
-
